About

Me

My education, Continual Professional Development and experience.

I am a fully qualified Counsellor/Psychotherapist and I see adults and young people in my private practice in Newton Abbot.

Personally, I have encountered a range of lifes issues and I know how it is to experience difficulty, from crippling anxiety to confidence and relationship issues, amongst many others. I feel that my experiences, both personally and professionally, are at the heart of my ability to connect with and relate to, with real understanding and empathy, a wide range of people of varying ages and struggles. I have a first hand knowledge of how it is to be in crisis and difficulty and I use this and my heart in my work to the benefit of my clients.

As a Counsellor/Psychotherapist some of the issues I have worked with include: Anxiety, Depression, Stress, Bareavement, Carer Related Issues, Relationship Problems, Sexual Assault, Childhood Traumas, Domestic Violence, Low Self Esteem, Bullying, Anger, Suicidal Thoughts, Spiritual Emergence, Inner Critic, Identity Crisis, Self Harm, Sexual Abuse, Exam Stress and Panic Attacks.

My therapeutic model consists of approaches and techniques drawn mainly from GestaltPerson Centred and Cognitive Behavioural disciplines, meaning that I can use a variety of interventions to facilitate my clients in moving forward. I have found working in nature to be extremely beneficial to the therapeutic experience and so hold a lot of my work outside.

In 2011 I graduated from The University of Exeter with a BSc Degree in Psychology.

I have over 10 years of experience of working in the mental health sector from working with pre school children on the autistic spectrum, to teenagers in the care system, adults in mental health and the elderly with alzheimers and other related dementias.

Continual Professional Development (CPD) is important to me and so I regularly attend courses which inform my practice, feed my passion and enable me to explore working with different issues using different techniques:
